How To Know When It’s Time To Change Your Epson Printer Ink

It is hard to find a better quality printer than an Epson. You are almost guaranteed good prints with Epson products. Knowing when to change your ink cartridge will help you maintain that good quality.

Epson makes it easy to know when it is time to replace your cartridge. They put a light on the printer that flashes when the ink is running low.

If you have purchased an Epson within the last few years your computer will also tell you. This is because your printer software that you loaded into your computer detects when the printer is low on ink and lets you know.

The only thing is that at times these warnings do not come at exactly the right time. Sometimes the warning is premature and sometimes it comes late.

Sometimes you get the warning in the middle of a big print job and it is to late to interrupt printing. If you get the warning when the cartridge is about 75% empty you will most likely not have enough to finish a big print job.

And if you’re only printing a couple of pages at a time, that 15-20% may last for quite a while still. The warning will often make people replace the ink right away, however this wastes what ink is left in the cartridge.

It may be a better idea to continue to print until the cartridges is completely out of ink. That way you get the full value from your ink cartridges.

If you’re printing a large job, you may want to consider changing the ink before you start. While you might waste a bit of ink, it’s not as bad as getting halfway through the print job and running out of ink, making you start all over again anyway.
