Help With Quit Smoking

It is never easy for anyone to quit a habit. Changing your habits never happens quickly either. It takes time and energy and perseverance, but habits can be changed.

There reasons to quit smoking are many and varied. Some involve health concerns such as bad breath or discolored fingers and nails. Some involve monetary as the cost of cigarettes themselves and the sin tax added to the price. Some reasons can be peer or family pressure such as not wanting to expose your family to second hand smoke. There are many good reasons to quit smoking.

*Giving up smoking is a very difficult thing to do. You must believe in yourself and have the willpower to quit.

*Set a date to quit smoking. Work towards that date by decreasing the number of cigarettes each day until you reach that date. Tell anyone and everyone about that date. This makes you be accountable for quitting by that date. Hold a ceremony to celebrate the last cigarette.

*Practice deep breathing every day for three to five minutes. Breathe in through your nose, hold your breath for a few seconds and exhale slowly through your mouth. By concentrating on breathing you are not thinking about smoking.

*Make an effort to find another smoker who is trying to quit. Being a buddy and having support can make the process easier because you have someone who is going through the same thing as you.

The reasons to quit smoking are as varied as the reasons someone began to smoke in the first place. They may have begun to smoke because of a dare or peer pressure. Most people did not start smoking with the idea that they would become addicted for life.

Nothing is impossible for you to do. To quit smoking is very hard and most people try more than once before they achieve this goal. Do not give up on the process. You can quit smoking and live a happier, healthier life.
