Successful Alternative Acne Treatments

It is believed by the Chinese that acne is caused by heat and toxins carried in the bloodstream. Some people believe that acne is the result of poisons that are discharged into the skin due to poor digestion. Although opinions vary on the cause, most agree that there are several alternative treatments that can prevent or even cure acne.
The most rudimentary alternative treatment is simply maintaining a low-fat diet, taking the right vitamins, and taking care of your hygiene. In addition, calories from saturated fat should be extremely low due to the adverse effects that can damage body tissue and cause swelling. It has also been asserted that other foods can cause the body to retain heat, and that drinking coffee, using a lot of garlic, and eating spicy foods are things that should be steered clear of.
Consuming an ample amount of Vitamin A is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Also, consuming zinc is important transporting nutrients to the cells. Sometimes acne is caused by menstruation. In this case Vitamin B-6 is vital to help regulate the proper metabolism of the increased level of hormones released. A high fiber diet is also important to maintain daily bowel movements. It has also been said that consuming acidophilus capsules can help with digestion.
There are several alternate treatments available for acne that are designed to be put directly on the skin. Some of these treatments call for a honey facial, which will cause your skin to be revitalized. To indulge in one of these facials, apply raw honey to your face and leave it on between five and ten minutes.
Another method of choice is tea tree oil, which is also applied directly on the skin. It is believed that this will prevent bacteria from growing on the skin.
Exfoliants such as alpha-hydroxyl acids, glycolic and lactic acids found in citrus fruits can be used to help treat acne. It is believed that they help prevent the build up of dead skin cells. In one remedy, a mixture of lemon juice and water can be placed on the face and rinsed off after about ten minutes. If a “burning sensation” occurs, the water concentration in the mixture can be increased.
Herbalist will sometimes concoct their own alternative pimple treatment. One suggestion is evening primrose oil, or black current seed oil capsules. On the other hand, some recommend using Echinacea or Goldenseal teas.
Exercise, as well as relaxation is important in the practice alternative treatments for acne. It is essential to ones well being that the body is at its peak level. Alternative acne treatments tend to be controversial, especially with doctors, but the success of them depends greatly on the person and the degree of severity of the acne they are suffering with.
