Keep your teacup dog happy, healthy, and strong
Your teacup dog needs to be cared for properly. Smaller dogs have greater needs.
Beware of manipulation. It does not take a dog long to discover that refusing to eat results in a worried owner producing something more delicious than dog food to tempt the appetite.
Always prevent dogs from fighting with other pets during mealtime. This may help to avoid quarrels and possibly a scratched nose.
During mealtime make sure the dog does not overeat. Provide the teacup dogs usual food, leave it long enough to give him an opportunity to eat it, and if it does not, take the bowl away.
If your teacup dog has lost his appetite, there may be a cause for concern. Give him the same type of food for the next meal, repeat the procedure and his eating pattern will soon return.
Allowing the top dog in a group of dogs, if you have more than one, to dominate at mealtime can result in obesity in the bossy teacup dog. Another result will be that you will be less alert to any early signs of illness if one dog is not eating properly.
