Effective Study Motivation Tips

Having difficulty in getting study motivation? Fallen way back on your classes but still not doing anything about it? Do you feel extremely turned off just by thinking about studying?

If you feel this way, well at least you can take comfort in the fact that almost everyone has experienced this lack of study motivation. This is especially true a person has no interests at all in the subject that he or she is studying.

Fortunately, if you are able to combine determination and willpower with the study motivation tips below, you can easily get yourself motivated about studying.

1. Set a schedule and study at the right time. Set a study schedule everyday. It’s good to plan your day in advance. Set a specific time for studying, and a time for playing or relaxing. This way, you won’t worry about ‘missing’ your fun. You may be studying hard now, but you know that later on you’ll be enjoying yourself. So this keeps you focused on studying in the present.

2. Get started with the 5 minute principle. The most difficult part in studying is getting started. The beginning is the toughest challenge. However, once you have got some momentum, things start to get easier and easier.

Everytime you don’t feel like studying, just plan to study seriously for 5 minutes. Tell yourself and genuinely only intend to study for the next 5 minutes, then that’s it. This will more likely to get you to take action as it will feel much less painful compared to bracing yourself to study for the next 2 hours.

Usually, what happens is after the 5 minutes are up, you would have been well into the swing of things that you’ll want to continue to study longer. The key here is to make sure that for those 5 minutes you are really studying 100%.

3. End and re-start at fun and interesting parts. Whenever you have to stop your study session, such as to take a bath, to eat some food, to run an errand etc, deliberately stop at the part of the subject that is more interesting. This makes getting back to studying much easier and also keeps your motivation levels up throughout the time when you are away from the books.

4. Remove distractions from your surroundings. When you got the TV, phone, computer, bed, magazines etc nearby, you’ll be easily tempted to throw your books aside. Let’s face it, if the TV remote is right in front of you, you’re more likely to turn on the TV. If you can see your bed while studying, you’re just tempting yourself to take a nice long nap. Instead, as much as possible try to remove the possible distractions away from you. Study in a proper environment with the least distractions. Turn of your cell phone, hide the remote, turn off your computer etc.

5. Set Goals. Setting goals will give you more motivation. When there’s a target to aim at, we’ll be more determined rise up to the challenge and push ourselves to achieve it. The sense of satisfaction from the achievement is also a good confidence booster. In addition to that, it will cultivate a habit of studying.
