Rules for the Home for the FriendlessRule 1. All applicants, on being received at the Home, shall promise to conform to the rules of the Home, and remain until dismissed by the Executive Committee. In extreme cases, the Matron shall have the power to dismiss an inmate.Rule 2. It is required of the inmates that their deportment shall be such as becomes a well ordered Christian household, and that they render implicit obedience to the Matron. Rule 3. The time of each person shall be industriously occupied in such work as shall be appointed for her by the Matron. Rule 4. All adult inmates shall retire at 9 o'clock, and rise at the hour specified by the Matron, and the Matron will be expected to visit each room after the inmates have retired. Rule 5. No inmate will be allowed to leave the premiss, unless with the permission of the Matron or one of the Managers. Rule 6. No letters shall be written or received without being read by the Matron, and the Matron, or any Officer or Manager of this Institution, shall have full power to open and break the seals of any letter or package, which may be written by, or directed to, any of the inmates. Rule 7. No visitor shall be received, except in the presence of the Matron or one of the Managers. Rule 8. Inmates are forbidden to enter each other's rooms without permission. Rule 9. There will be, daily, Morning and Evening Prayer. Every member of the family is expected to be present at these, and all other religious exercises, when circumstances will allow. Rule 10. If any inmate of the Home is at any time disorderly or disobedient to its rules, she may be confined by the Matron in some suitable apartment of the Institution, until such disorder or disobedience ceases, and for a sufficient time to serve as a punishment for such offence. Rule 11. All inmates, on entering the Home, are required to hand to the Matron for safe keeping any money which they may have in their possession. Rule 12. Any infringement or neglect of the above Rules must be reported to the Visiting ommittee, who shall inquire into the case, and receive an apology, or dismiss the offender, at their discretion. Rule 13. Those who obey these rules will be treated kindly, and a home will be afforded them until places can be found for them. Rule 14.
