Haddam Meadows State Park

Haddam, CT

This park is on the west banks of the Connecticut River just north of the Rt. 82 exit of Rt. 9 and the Goodspeed Opera House.

The Meadows is an undeveloped tract of land. There are no services or facilities, outhouses are provided. There are picnic tables and I think the best use of this park is just that. Bring the family and relax along the shores of the river and enjoy a peaceful and quiet day. If you are into nuclear power there is an excellent view of the power plant just across the river from here.

The major features of this park are the boat launch and the wide open space. The Connecticut is still a tidal river here and the level of water changes with the tides. It's a nice spot to relax and fish from shore. The shallow shoreline and sandbar, which can be reached at low tide, makes it not the best spot to fish. I still enjoy kicking back here and drowning some worms. Now that I told you about the sandbar it will probably be washed away to never return.

The park seems to be a popular hang out for model airplane enthusiasts. They can frequently be found flying their planes around the field closest to the park entrance.
